(East Stroudsburg, PA) – May 12, 2017 – The Monroe County Gigabit Project team announced forty-four (44) participants received Gigabit proposals that could help transform their organizations and economic development in Monroe County at Friday’s community meeting at East Stroudsburg University’s Innovation Center. All of the RFP proposals would reduce the costs of gigabit broadband in Monroe County. With the new pricing, organizations could decide to reduce their broadband costs, or they could increase their broadband capacity. State Senator Mario Scavello provided a positive greeting, expressing his thanks for the strong participation and provider proposals. David Parker gave a project update and next steps for the June 8th meeting. Kevin Dellicker, President of Dellicker Strategies provided an overview of the strong RFP results. Afterwards, Michael Kolba, Jr. delivered a robust cyber-security update that gave organizations ideas to tighten all aspects of their cyber-security.
“We are very pleased with the RFP results.” Dellicker stated. “In fact, there are several aspects in the proposals that are very compelling. The bottom line is, the average RFP pricing/Mbps is lower than average current pricing/Mbps from the Monroe County survey for all categories of service,” said Dellicker.
Dellicker also outlined the RFP’s next steps, indicating the RFP Team will organize and share the results with each buyer. The June 8th meeting will provide updates and another opportunity to meet with the Project team.
Senator Mario Scavello remarked, “Like everyone in this room, I’m excited to see the desirable prospects that will come about for Monroe County. A big thank you to the providers for submitting such great proposals. This good news is exactly what we were hoping to receive.” Senator Scavello concluded, “these strong proposals will give customers options, ideas and ways to grow their businesses.”
The Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued on April 10, 2017 to more than 100 internet service provider contacts.
