Family Care

Monroe County’s 63 day care centers and 18 group day care homes provide care for nearly 3,500 children. The rapidly increasing population creates a need for additional day care services. Pocono Services for Families and Children, which provides Head Start and other programs, can be reached at (570) 421-2711.

County facilities are also aware of the increased need for elder care. Monroe County has several large full-service nursing homes with 420 beds. Twelve personal care homes with 544 beds also provide less intensive nursing care.

In-home care is available through the Visiting Nurse Association/Hospice of Monroe County and several other home care providers offer viable alternatives.
